Yep.
It's safely packed away in a box with a few other Audi parts.
I went back to the junkyard to look for the radio code...no luck. I DO have the VIN if you have a source to get the code.
Let me know if you want it.

Re: Radio innards may have failed. It should always go to 1000 when the keys ....
Not exactly on the SAME note here, but here goes:
So I had the battery replaced on friday, and thought, no problem, lemme just check the symphony owners manual, and get the code from the radio key on the inside cover of the manual. right, check, followed all the correct steps, and entered the 03** code. safe started flashing, and no radio.
I went back the the carfax report (i'm the 3rd owner now), and discoved that the 2nd owner had had the radio replaced.....but alas, obviously never had the NEW radio code number entered on the radio card.
Zumbach audi of Manhattan tells me that the code is written on the back of the radio, and they'd be happy to charge me the service time and labor to remove it, get the code, and re-activate the radio.
The original radio swap out was done by Rietzl Porsche/Audi in Danvers, MA.
Now here's my question....is it worth phoning up Rietzl, and requesting that THEY pay for this service, as in my opinion, that's sloppy workmanship, by not following through on all the proceedures (i.e. never notating the NEW code anywhere), or should i get the radio removal tools on ebay, and give it a go myself....OR just skip the whole thing, and find an indash navi system that will fit my 1999 A6 2.8 avant?
oh, and btw...hello all, I'm the new guy here, but have been lurking for quite a while...THANK YOU for all the advice and knowledge thus far!

All it takes is a coat hanger to remove the radio.
Austinado lent me the OEM radio removal tools. While I had them in my posession I bent 2 coat hanger hooks into a similar configuration and tested them...they worked almost as well as the OEM tools. It literally takes 30 seconds to pull the radio, another 30 seconds to unhook the wiring connectors.
Rumor has it that Leritz may have the capability to obtain security codes a bit less expensively than the dealer...

Re: Gamma CC - completely locked out
I got out of SAFE mode by holding the FM1/2 and DX buttons down at the same time, then followed the same procedure as mentioned in previous thread, BUT, once I either turn the radio or ignition off , I'm back to SAFE mode, any hints?
