I saw this pic searching for some ideas on what to do with my radio. (see link)

Both my cars (both automatics) have this LCD indicator of what gear you are in. However, neither of them light up. In both cases, it's just a hard-to-see black and clear display, not red-lit as in the pic.

In subsequent posts, someone mentions that an LED is used there. That's odd - it seems - because an LED should last longer than the bulbs, and yet that's the only thing that's not illuminated on my dash.

Any 1988-1991 Audi 80 or 90 Automatics have illumination there and/or ever have that fixed?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/72590.phtml">Lit up Gear Indicator</a></li></ul>

Just did this job too, 2 bulbs soldered to the circuit bd.

Any tips for people who haven't soldered stuff like this before? Or ... ideas who could be found to do the job?
