should I do it? Never done a CV job before. Always better to try on someone else's first huh? Its the outer one. Can't be too bad right?

CV grease is one of the worst grease's to have to deal with, and its harder to get out of your hands.
You can take the entire axle out (easiest) or you can do it while on the car (PITA), but might easier if you don't have a lift.
