Welcome to California Emissions, the biggest joke on the fn planet...
Seriously, I have had several shops tell me that it flat out is a scam for more money. The not only check the timing, they also dyno the car under load as well as some other tests that no one else in the world does. Not to mention they force you to go to a 'test Only' station that is funded by the state, and is not allowed to perform any repairs on vehicles at the shop. Enough BS for me to want to move the hell out of here...

He had it set it check TDC from the spark off cylinder #1...
I am guessing if I can get cylinder one at the top of its stroke I would just mark the flywheel there?

Do these idiots not understand that the ECU controls the timing based on the crank pin
and that the TDC mark is pointless?. There are some things I really miss about Kalifornia, this is not among them.
