Default The good old ISV trouble

Right I am still working on this cutting out/misfiring etc, on my 2.0E. Can anyone explain what this valve does(or rather how it does it?)
To re-cap, mine is the car that only starts with the isv connected and then after 5 mins or so,has too be disconnected or it wont run!
Is it supposed to pulsate to achieve its goal or just be either open or closed? When I apply power to mine, the slug inside just flies back and stays open.

Any idea`s?

Default Do you have a multimeter???

IF you do try measuring the resistance of the ISV and see if its good or not. On the 12v V6 the ISV resistance should be between 7-11 ohms; just take the plug out and put the one prong on each terminal on the ISV and check for resistance. I'm not sure abt the ones on the 2.0 but they might be close. try doin that check, maybe the ISV is faulty.

Good luck

Julian
