Default Ok so after 80 miles of driving the 'off the gas' noise doesnt seem to be going anywhere...

It still has me worried for some reason. Sounds as if something is weak and going to break on me. Shop opens at 9am so I will shoot them a call then to get some more input...

Default So, talked to the shop, and they concur that it would be some chatter....

I didnt mention what i thought it was (always gotta see if they think its the same issue). After describing the noises they feel it's gear chatter while @ idle, and flywheel chatter when decelerating. Whatever the case I have no money to change anything now, so I will continue driving her until it 'splodes.

I am going to check the tranny fluid level this weekend as well to ensure everythings topped off properly...

Default No noise when coasting, only under deceleration while in gear with no throttle...

If you touch the gas the sound goes away. Clutch in it goes away. But if decelerating in gear (letting hte engine slow the car) it makes the noise...

Default A bit of an update (if anyones following)

I found over on MG another audi 90 with the same problem I am describing only with all old worn parts (apposed to my all brand new parts...)

After having a friend try to pinpoint the noise from inside the car it seems it's coming more so towards the back seat in the trans tunnel, pointing me towards the driveshaft carrier bearing. I am going to get under the car this weekend and check everything out but if it's just the carrier I am going to be giddy as a school girl...

It's more than likely the heat sheild rubbing on the drive shaft just ahead of the rear differential. Just pull it down slightly. It quite flexible aluminum.
