The key is how well the passenger compartment stays intact. ;O)
Cars are designed to "crumple" around the passenger compartment, thus helping to save the occupents. However speed can alter this...
Many AutoBahn wrecks I've seen, you couldnt even tell what the cars were...
Some Engineers say, at those speeds, its just like a plane wreck...

That's what the front end is supposed to do. By absorbing energy, that energy is not transferred....
to the driver. Who lived, I'll bet. The passenger compartment is relatively intact.
