Default Has anyone ever put a a starter on their 90?

We went ahead and ordered a starter b/c my husband said it should be really easy to put on. Well, he gets up under the car today and says that it looks like it will be a total pain to get to. Has anyone ever done their own and do you have any hints about getting to it?
Should I just take it to the shop and let them put it on? Wonder how much they would charge me just to install it?

Default Yes

He's right it is a pain in the *** if the bolts are extra tight. Miktip helped me also.

There are two bolts on the back of the starter. Not easy to get to. I used a long 1/2" drive socket(breaker bar) with a 10" extension and deep wall socket. for the top bolt. For my bottom bolt I used a wrench on the back bolt head and a socket on the front nut. My doner car did not have this nut. You should be able to use a regular box end wrench on the bottom bolt, from the back.

If you have acces to a air socket your life will be easy.

I could not loosen my bottom bolt, (not enough room to turn the socket), so I went to friends shop and completed the job in 25 minutes.

good luck
