Default Heated Seats Retrofit

Hi,

Today I picked up a nice sport interior with heated front seats to reduce the hammock-like swinging sensations I get when driving in my '88 80. It doesn't have the winter options, so I'd also like to get the butt warmers cooking while I'm in there.

From what I was told the new seats originated from a '95 90. After searching the archives I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help answer:

I haven't checked my car for any prewiring yet but I was sure I'd have to at least get relays until I read somewhere that the '93-up had relays built into the switches? The seats came with the seat heater switches p/n 4A0 963 563. Can anyone confirm that? If that's the case, I'd be bypassing the stock wiring. Could someone then also give me the pinouts of the switch? There are 6 terminals on the rear of the switch.

I only have a Haynes, and it only covers '88-'90 with little mention of seat heaters. I also already found the pinouts for the seats themselves, just wondering about these switches now...

TIA
Bill B

Default If your car doesn't have heated seats, it doesn't have wiring.

Find someone who is parting a car and buy the harness from them.

I have the complete wiring harness from a 1990 CQ if you're interested. Email me.

My question is about the relays being included in the switches in later model 90s. I have no problems building my own wiring harness/running wires.

There most certainly will be some wiring at least for the relays already. However, If I'm hooking up different switches, all B3 stock wiring is worthless to my application anyways.

Can anyone confirm the switches I have (p/n 4A0 963 563) are different compared to a B3 switch?

Are B3's wired the same as '95 B4's for HS?

4A0 P/N is a different switch from the B3 style switch.

Thanks. Anyone ever tear one apart to find a relay inside?

Default Does it really make a difference? Just pick which wiring/switches your going with...

...and roll with it. ;o)

Default Anyone have a B4 wiring diagram for the heated seat system?

I probably wasn't being clear.

I know I can't use my B3 wiring because they don't match the B4 seats/switches I'm trying to install.

I don't have a wiring diagram for the how the B4 seats are wired, so that's all I really need and I can run my own wires.
