Default heating/cooling issues....

Yesterday I flushed the cooling system. I refilled it at 70/30 cause it gets cold here. The first half of the coolant was added by putting in coolant, then appropriate amount of water. The second half of the coolant was premixed at 70/30 before adding to the system. I believe it is a 11.6 quart system, but I was only able to add about 8-9 quarts. Yes the block coolant plug was removed-

This morning (38 degrees F) the car warmed up good until I started driving, then it cooled down. There was not heat inside the car. The faster I drove, the cooled the water temp. I slowed down (because I had too) and the heater worked a little. Coolant tank was within limits when I arrived to work.

Any ideas?

Before you open the bleeder valve, you need to run the car untill fans kick in, also be carefull and watch the temp gauge so it doesn't overheat. Then, once its hot, open the bleeder valve untill coolant starts coming out, then close it. Let the car cool off and then top it off. Hope that helps.

Default That is possible, there was a lot of crud in the system...

It could be stuck open so the engine does not heat properly. It may have to wait until I change the timing belt, unless there is an easy way to it?

this could be a water pump issue as well, but check that last I'd say.
