I have a UK 1991 Coupe 2.3 (5 cylinder). The radiator fan seems to come on as the engine cools down and switch off when it is hotter. I have replaced the thermo-switch and relay but these made no difference. I also just replaced the MFTS today as my temperature guage wasn't working. Why does my fan forsake me!!!

The fan should run after the engine has shut off if it gets hot enough.
Normally the radiator fan will not run while the car is driving unless it gets really hot or you have the air conditioning on.

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid I wasn't quite clear with my original message. What happens is; the fan will stay on constantly until the battery is completely drained even if the car is freezing cold. However, once the coolant temperature reaches about 80 degrees it will switch off. I even stood and watched the fan after a long drive. After about an hour it suddenly kicked into life even though the radiator felt only mildly warm. It only switched off after I pulled the plug out.
