Default Hey Moving violation question

I got a moving violation, for running a red light, it was one of those yellow turns to red as you pass through it. Anyways my court date is coming up soon and was wondering if anyone here had any advice about not getting any points on my license.

In my defense, the light turned from yellow to red as I passed through it, a.) this street is not very well paved, and they had been doing construction on it, so instead of slamming on my brakes and running the risk of someone rear ending me, I saw that the intersection was clear so I proceeded at about 25 mph. I think the speed limit is 30. Long story short, the officer pulled me over and gave me a ticket for running a red light. As I see it, I was half wrong, I dont mind the fine but I can't deal with the points, especially with the insurance costs in this state.

All advice is welcome.

I wasn't even driving my Cab, I had my p.o.s. plymouth acclaim.

Default in nearly every state....

Yellow means STOP, and red means Do not Proceed. Green means "prepare to stop". probably not legal definitions, but that's what the judge is goign to tell you.

If you entered the intersection when the light was yellow, you're toast.

Default dido that!

but if money is not the issue hire a lawyer. I know I hate em too, but they'll help you fight it better.

In my family, we hire lawyers for EVERYTHING.

I'm still curious, are you a police officer, now or retired?

Default As stated in the Massachusetts driving law handbook

Steady Yellow:

A steady yellow light means the traffic signal is changing from green to red. You must stop if it is safe to do so. If you are already stopped at an intersection or a stop line, you may not proceed.

My argument obviously is that it was not safe to do so.<ul><li><a href="http://www.mass.gov/rmv/dmanual/102004/chapter4.pdf">Handbook</a></li></ul>
