Default High pitched noise from rear end = trouble

Today I noticed a hiched noise from the rear end on the way home from work. I was running VERY low on gas and I wanted to make it home to my neighborhood filling station. I got stoped on a step down hill, it spudered and quit running. I got out and pushed it to a flat spot in the road. I got it started, but the noise was louder then ever. Luckly, a gas sation was only 2 blocks away. I got it to the station, filled up, and the noise was gone! In other words, if you're low on gas and you hear a high pitched noise from the rear end, it's the fuel pump pumping air- GET SOME GAS SOON!

This will shorten the life of the fuel pump, as it uses fuel to lubricate and cool it !
