Audi used on these seats is not of the high quality they are now using. I have babied the leather on my seats but it seems the spray on dye they used has now faded and the leather is starting to show some serious cracks. The passenger side looks great. Should I have both seats recovered? Should I ask that the seats be covered with drum-dyed leather? Wonder if they can match the color...platinum grey.

My leather in the '88 90q has held up very well. Even tossed dirty gravel tires/rims on them...
had the car loaded up with tires once (not my idea... but it had to get done to mount tires for the Evo rally car ASAP).
Seats cleaned right up. Mine are black though. Perhaps the black holds up better than the grey.

Ditto! The leather is of excellent quality
Compare with the crap that came in BMW's from similar years.
I clean & condition with Zymol regularly, especially on the steering wheel and shift ****.
