Default How to check if fan control switch works or not, bentley doesn't really say how...

My car was running pretty hot lately so i changed my coolant yesterday, it was black!, and then i just realized my fans won't come on unless AC is on. Would that be FC switch or s'thing else?
TIA

Default short-circuit the plug and look if the fan starts, if not, your fan is dead

if so, the sensor (left/bottom radiator side) is bad.

and btw, try to change your coolant before it comes black!!!!!

Default Fans run when AC is on

So you are talking about sensor on passenger side bottom of radiator? What is that one for?

Default is a on/off sensor that gives the signal to the fan to go on or off......

it has nothing to do with your 2 guages in the car, this one is only an on/off sensor.

If I'm not mistaken, 5k's, 90's, 80's and 4k's have the same sensor so if you got a friend or have another Audi, interchange them ( you will loose some coolant but if your're fast, you won't loose alot)

and it's on the driver side, look under the car on the driver side and you will see a sensor that goes in the rad with a 3 pin plug

Default Coolant black.

Was the coolant black in the expansion tank as well or just when you drained the stuff? Eek!

I'd let whatever you put in the cooling system run for a week or two and flush out the system again to get rid of contaminants.

Default yeah, I'll probably do the TB soon

so it'll have to flushed again. Any ideas on the fans? Or is that switch on a radiator for sure?
