the po of my 91 cq had pulled the fuse for the alarm/locks. when i put the fuse back in the car will either not start (imobilizer im guessing) or it starts and the alarm goes off. the po said that it was related to replacing the battery and that the alarm needed to be "reset".
how do i do this?

Then after reconnecting i, take the key and go to each door and lock and unlock each one. If you have jammed door lock mechanism you may have a problem. You have to be able to move the key in the lock cylinder all the way from side to side.

Make sure you at least go to lock then to unlock. And make sure you do both doors. sometimes it works by doing just one, sometimes not.
I have a bunch of cars in the shop and the batteries tend to die from time to time. When I charge them and they get enough of a charge they all go off. Depending on the charge is why some need both doors done. I guess it just gets confused.
I just make sure I have the right key and as soon as it honks, I just do the doors and it's fine, till next time.

ok, so it didnt work. i left all doors unlocked with the fuse for the alarm in its place. i then unplugged the (+) lead from the battery, waited about 15 minutes, then i reconnected the battery. i then went to the 2 doors and locked and unlocked them and heard a honk upon each lock.
i checked to see if the car would actually start, and it did! so i thought i was in business until i went to open the passengers side door while it was unlocked and the alarm went off as soon as i opened it!
i tried going through the entire sequence again and that time the car wouldnt start.
what am i doing wrong?!
