How to open hood with broken release cable
Hi All,
Can anyone recommend or know how to open the hood of a '94 90 CSQ that has a broken release cable? The cable snapped when I pulled on the interior lever and the hood did not open.
TIA

In the corner of the hood, where it curves down for the grille - or by the top L/R inner corner of the headlight, try to squeze something strong but thin and push on the lever that releases it....you wanna push towards the middle of the hood.
I am not sure if you can see it through the grille itself.

BEST METHOD... u need a large gauge length of steel wire. a really thick coat hanger might work
make a nice tight sturdy hook in the wire
approaching the car from the front, facing the windshield, kneel down at the middle-left of the grille; you will need a flashlight to see where to pull. If you look through the grille up to the left corner (back a ways into the upper rad support), you should be able to see the lever-arm for hood release action. The arm needs to be pulled towards you (inwards.... to the middle of the car) in order to pop that side of the hood. Fish the wire through the grille and up towards this top corner...use the light to help you see. You need to hook onto the lever arm and then pull really hard; this is why your wire/hook needs to be really stiff. It's pretty frustrating overall, but eventually it's possible to unlatch the hood like this.
I know because I had to do it, but I was lucky in that the cable popped the driver's hood corner just as it snapped; so I only had to do the procedure as described above. I'm guessing that you can apply it just the same to the righthand-side popper.
Good luck. I could snap pics of things if you needed, though I am quite busy.
check yah later
