Default I could use some quick advice...

One of my buddies is looking at buying a '95 90 Quattro "sport" (was there such a designation?) with 99k miles or a '90 Coupe Quattro with 130k miles. I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads-up on what are the common problems to expect with these cars, and what to look for before he buys it?
I had a '91 90 Quattro 20v which I loved, but I only drove it between 75k and 115k miles (until it was totaled). Mine ate up rear calipers until I figured out it was a problem with the e-brake system. And I had to replace both radiators that were damn expensive. Other than that, I had no complaints.
Thanx for you help.

Well for both cars, you should check when last the timing belt and water pump were changed because they are expensive to replace and 3 times as expensive when broken. Also check the power steering pump on the coupe and front suspension components on both cars. Check for ticking in both engines (lifter noise $$$). Most importantly is maintanace records for both, so u will know where u stand

Default Lifter noise, huh?....

My 90 had some valve tapping, or lifter clatter, but when ever I gave it fresh heavy weight oil (15-40) it went away. What is damaged when the head is ticking like that? I worked at a pre-owned dealer/service shop and the mechanics told me to just be good about my oil changes.
