Default I feel the spring mod bug coming on :o) ...

With a little push from crazycab, i've gone mod crazy lately getting the car ready for spring. Starting with a preloadable strut brace, installed it, noticed the MASSIVE difference in stability in the car, but also noticed it didn't match the rest of the polished aluminum in my engine bay. So off it came again today for a nice new polish )

Half polished, half machine finished:

Fully polished and reinstalled:

that's more like it!

Now another thing I've been working on in light of spring is my set of summer wheels, just your regular old 15x7" sport wheels, but I wanted to give them a twist:

What I started with:
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/anokiernan/Audi%2090/Sport%20Wheels/DSC02521.jpg">

I decided to machine the lips down to fresh aluminum. Here the wheel is up on the lathe with the outer lip all machined:

Fully machined lips:
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/anokiernan/Audi%2090/Sport%20Wheels/IMG_1782.jpg">

that's all well and good but lets take it one step further! I didn't have much time but I couldn't stop myself from test polishing the lips, here I've only quickly polished the upper(related to the picture) portion of the lip about 8" wide, the streaks are just from compound I haven't cleaned off yet, like I said I was in a rush ;o) :
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/anokiernan/Audi%2090/Sport%20Wheels/IMG_2078.jpg">

Once the lips are polished, I'll mask everything, media blast the rest of the remaining primer off of the wheels and repaint with Wurth German Silver.

Finally something I've been nicking away at for a while, a full LED conversion for the interior lights of the car. I've chosen to go a different route than most though. I'm not a big fan of the festoon type bulbs, both OEM and LED modules, so I machined up a small fixture to hold ten 40,000mcd white LED's. Now this fixture is just for the center light where the sunroof controls are, the other lights are still being worked on.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/anokiernan/Audi%2090/IMG_2056.jpg">
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/anokiernan/Audi%2090/IMG_2057.jpg">

All I have to say is WOW, this conversion really does put the OEM system to shame! Just with this one center light it's bright enough to light up the interior even on a sunny day. It turned out to be a very very clean, pure white light, at only 1/5th the OEM current draw. Certainly gets alot of comments at night now. That's all for now, plenty of other projects in the works...

Default I suppose I could produce a couple sets...

would you want just the front center light or all of the lights for the interior? Soldered already or a kit (price reflecting)?
