Default I was wondering if a smaller or more efficient AC compressor can be used on ....

the CQ's & B4 sedans? The OEM ones are huge and heavy. Do the early A4's carry the same big compressors?

Default that would be nice...

my car is much less driveable with the a/c on. Not bad on the highway, but city driving is quite 'bouncy'.

Default I was thinking the SAME thing on the way to work this AM

car is just drained by the A/C system.

Default B5 A4s have the exact same compressor as B4s.

I don't know about later models, but I bet it's the same story. There have been no major advances in AC technology in a while, just refrigerant changes.
