Any Help...
Replaced the ignition switch on my 95 audi 90Q.
The old switch worked fine but had to manually turn the key back.
Installed new switch today, now the car wont start. No starter activation. When I attempt to start the car, everything works except no starter. Tried resetting the security by activating door locks, No difference.
I search the archives but couldnt find an issue like this?

No unfortunately I did not. I did a basic no no and worse yet, the car was in gear and my FZ750 was parked in front of the audi. Needless to say, the fact that the car wont start is adding insult to injury. I did unhook the battery after I got the car shut off. Installed the switch and re attached the battery.

Checked all the fuses, none were blown. Verified the wiring on the back of the switch was in good shape. Not sure whats happening. Its possible the replacement switch I bought is defective. That all I can come up with, Is there anything specific I need to do after re-attaching the battery.

Either let it hanfg below the dash or get to it from through where the cluster was. Make sure you don't let it rest against anything since it has power to it.
Take a medium flatblade and turn it to see what happens. Make sure it's out of gear and all that. Be careful not to turn it too far and be prepared to turn it back manually just in case. If it doesn't work the switch likely is bad.
You should be able to verify lights and accessories and allm and it should start and run just fine. In a pinch I've run a car this way for weeks till I got around to pulling the cluster to replace a bad one.

Got it "new" off ebay from a car parts dealer. It does not have the 4 rings. I hope the switch is the problem. Nearest audi dealership from me is 1 hour away. Im picking a new switch up tonight from the dealer.

...is still working properly today.
It's rumored that a heavy keyring will lead to a premature switch failure.
