Default Ignition switch pooped itself today........

Just changed the bastard a couple years ago!

No visable signs of damage externally.

It acted like the key was sticking, then went to start, and it stayed in the start position. Luckily I was able to turn it back, but it wasnt easy, then it wanted to stay on.

Got a replacement from a VW dealer. ;O)

Default This convinces me that every B3/B4 Audi owner needs to buy and carry a spare...

who knows when it will go out? Plus, they aren't too expensive, even from the dealer!

I'm ordering one!

Default Mine was a 4A0 905 849 B. I'm wondering.........

if Audi has a newer version of the switch?

Maybe a "C, D, or E" version? Because the replacement was also a B version.

We'll see how long it lasts......

Default There was a recall on ignition switches...only one per VIN though.

Same switch for many Audis...not just B3/B4s...I've replaced 3 or 4 of them in C4s (100/S4/A6/S6)...all had the recall done once already! /
