The last week or so, when I would remove my key after driving, the key slot would stay pushed down and I'd have to stick the key part way in and jiggle it to get the slot to pop back out. Then today, I actually had to force the key into the off position and a little past to get the key out. It feels mushy, like a spring or something has broken. What can I do to fix this? Can I re-use the carrier so that I don't need to have two keys? Thanks!

The plastic piece behind the key tumbler is replacable as is the key tumbler.
You just have to remove the steering wheel, instrument cluster, and pull the steering colum from the car to remove the key tumbler, as it has an anti-theft device on it. Basically a pin which needs to be drilled to be removed to remove the key tumbler.
Yours may just be a worn key? Or dirt inside the tumbler?
Or the plastic electrical part behind the key tumbler is "known" for failure, and can cause the key to act funny! ;O)
