Default I'm convinced that my car doesn't like new spark plugs!!!!! :(

Finally I have the OEM spec spark plugs. W7DTC are supposed to be the correct OEM spark plugs for our 5 cyl. Well, I put the new plugs in (and the car runs like ****. Just like it did before when I tried changing the plugs. I'm getting a shudder from the engine at all rpms and I'm getting a low thudding sound coming from the exhaust. A low, quiet backfiring sound. I'm so irritated! I HAVE to get some plugs that work so I can pass emissions testing and get this car registered. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

Default Spray down your plug wires with water/soap... watch for sparks...

You might have a bad plug wire and not know it.

Default Runs fine though with the old plugs.

Wouldn't this mean that the wires are good?

Default Nothing usefuel. I think he got that mixed up with finding air leaks.

That works good for finger leaks in pipes as the soap causes bubbles where the leak is located.

FWIW that's how my car acted with the 18yo injectors...

Default Hmm...

I'll take that into account, thanks. If it were the injectors I wonder why it only does it when I put new spark plugs in.

Default Soap also acts to help conduct electricity...

pure water with no minerals/salts does a very poor job of conducting electricity... throw in some salt, minerals, or something like soap, and it's more conductive.

I had a bad plug wire that only presented itself when it was wet outside. Finally opened the hood one night after I had been driving through the snow and the car was stumbling... could see the spark jumping from the plug wire to the block.
