Default Intake (worth the kit or ....)

Should i buy the intake kit listed on quat speed or should i just chop my intake box with some heat shielding? I dont know if 190 is worth a filter and a heat shield myself.....

Default My 2 cents...

A lot of people say the cone isn't worth it, I like them. I enjoy the sound and usually quicker throttle response. However, Audi seems to do an excellent job designing the air intake system, so I don't think one is as necessary as on other cars. If I were you and didn't already have one, I'd try to whip something up myself with a nice little shield around it. Keep in mind, an air intake can do 2 things:
-Give you better throttle reponse and probably no more than a couple HP at the flywheel max, yet...
-Take up as much time to be as elaborate as you want. Yet spending 2938476 years on the most advanced intake ever (like some people have done!) will not be much better than one that you spent 1/2 hour on. BTDT!

Default Always make stuff yourself.

Check the "cialowicz cool air intake" link in my sig. You can finagle something like it for the 90.

Default Heres what I have in the works...

Because im unsure how to mount a cone filter to the squared inlet hole (if you remove the plastic top of the box) this is what i think im going to put togather. Im going to chop the current box (bottom half gone) and create a heat shield (insulation and sheet metal) that doubles as an under car scoop aswell as maybe a small chop into the fender next to the box with a small duct line... any insight?
