Max hp, but not max revs. Hp usually falls off toward redline.

Default They put them there for better weight distribution. I has no effect on the amount of power used.

The only time that they would have less drag on the engine is when the clutch is disengaged. Then the engine would rev faster due to less drag from accesories that would normally run off the engine. However, those accesories use exactly the same amount of power regardless of where they are mounted or to what component the belts are connected. As in previous posts...there is no free lunch.

The reason for mounting them off the rear of the drive shaft is to move the weight of those accessories to the rear to help the weight distribution and to lower the center of gravity. Same reason that the battery is usually moved to the rear. Proper weight distribution is key to a balanced chassis. Audi's tend to be VERY nose heavy. The more weight that can be moved from the front to the rear the better and the lower it's mounted the better for the CG.

That's just showing it makes 720hp (DIN) at 7,500rpm, not that it redlines at 7,500rpm ;-)

Default I just checked with

someone who's got an E2 GrpB car and he says it's programmed to go to 8250 with an 85mm crank. That said he just had it out last weekend and the tattletale showed he had it up to 9250. He since set the limiter down at 8000.
