IR key fob find and Oil pressure sensor question
Hey guys, i haven't posted in a while as i have been busy with a new job promotion and a new baby, but i did want to share an awesome find with you guys. I fond a seller on Ebay that currently carries the IR key fob for our cars. They are used/cut, but i did buy one and test it out, works great! i swapped the guts into my key fob, and presto! i can now remote lock my doors! now i know these don't have great range, but if you are a purist/nostalgic guy like myself, it is a cool find. You can find this item by searching for "audi 1button fob", it should be one of the first results that pop up. They still had 4 or so when i ordered mine a few weeks ago.
As for the main reason of my post. This past week, i had a mechanic take a look at my car take care of some maintenance items, in order to get a clean look at everything, he power washed the engine. When i got it back, whenever the car goes above 2k rpms, the oil pressure light comes on, then goes away as soon as you dip below the 2k mark. Based on the fact that i did not have this issue before i took it to the mechanic, and the work he did on the car was unrelated to the oil pump or anything mechanical, i am thinking something got knocked loose when washing. I took a look under the car, and i do see a blue connector hanging near the oil filter, but i cant see where it would go. Does anyone know if this connector goes to one of the oil pressure sensors, and if so where it would be located?....also i am sure someone is going to say it, so yes, i have confirmed my oil is filled to the appropriate level.

there is a photo of the connector i am talking about. Based on its proximity to the oil filter housing, i am thinking this maybe went to the High pressure sensor, but i cant seem to find where it plugs in to, any ideas?

well ok, so i made sure that sensor is firmly connected (yes, that is the same engine config as mine, thanks for the picture!) and it is still throwing the oil pressure symbol at exaclty 2k, it does it connected or not. I read somewhere that these cars have 2 pressure switches, is there something i am missing?

There are two versions of the oil pressure sensor up there. One for cars without aux gauges (the three gauge pod below the radio) that has one connection, and one for cars WITH the aux gauges that has two connections. They are both pictured below in a pic from my aux gauge retrofit thread. My photo is of an AAH engine, the one Rusty posted above is an AFC, the big difference being the place the sensor screws into

The car is wired with two wires no matter what.
I'm guessing you don't have the gauges and you have the wrong one of the two wires connected to the sensor.
