Default it's official... the rally car hates me.... 2312 temp sensor ghost.

-Wiring checks out (4.5-5.5v)

-New 2-pin sensor (getting correct ohm's at temp based on bentley.. which also means good ground from sensor to car)

Codes are cleared, car warms up, and the CEL comes on. Throws a 2312 code. Double check and wiring is still fine (so it's not some heat-induced short/resistance in the wiring).

I think the car hates me... it knows I'm gonna be abusing it very soon. We just finished the rear tow hook.... which is a trailer hitch... and a lot of steel... reinforced to the rear frame. I actually think I could tow a small trailer with the car now! Got a sexy chrome hitch coming out the rear... just needs a tow strap attached to it!

Default Shot in the dark but...

...a thousand years ago when we first go my wife's 90 on the road (1996?), I had a problem with an OXS throwing a code. After much fanfare, I discovered that the wires were twisted. At times the two wires going to the heater would actually induce a current into the sensor wire that would push the signal out of normal range and kick on the CEL. As I said, it's a longshot, but worth checking.

Default This may not help, but...

On my 4ktq I JUST got over having a horrible time with the same fault code. I put in brand new coolant temp sensors (pin type sensors) shortly after the swap. I could NOT get that coolant sensor fault code to go away. Wiring was good, which I checked repeatedly, sensors spec'ed out just fine. I was having other drivability issues. I turned to my ECU ground at the intake manifold. The wire was suspect looking at best. I ended up fixing the grounds properly. No more fault code and the car runs better! My advice would be to check the ECU ground (if applicable).

Default maybe I'm mental (good possibility), but it was brought up once that a failing gauge can cause

erroneous occurances of fault codes and/or CEL's.

Now I can't remember the context in which this came about, and I don't remember which gauge was being accused.... but I dreamed this up from somewhere, so there's a slight chance that what I'm rambling about holds a small shred of helpfulness.

sorry I couldn't be more useful.
