Default just on 12v.org......interesting

how often or what is the life of the oil pressure relief valve? if the valve is worn, could that basically lead to not enough oil in the upper section and lifter tick?
then again if your oil pressure sensor is shot you wont know that your oil pressure relief valves are not working. damn...
i'd hate to see the bill for a dealership to replace all of these just for piece of mind.

Default Lifter tick on startup and such can sometimes be cured by the check valves under the valley pan.

They tend to wear out on the AAH V6 engines [and have been superceeded several times].

Default thanks SCarGo, but......

i have seen the writeup and of course looked in the bentley on how to do it and its not exactly a picnic. I also can't seem to find "anti-drain back valves" online anywhere so, dealer only or do they go under a different name?
I was afraid they are due for replacement, oddly I think the amsoil cleaned the valves so well of plugged oil that they now leak, oops.

I have read stick with what your using because switching around can create problems. guess maybe in this case thats a correct assumption.

you mentioned they have been revised a few times, yet no recall since it obviously was a problem. I am trying to figure according to the difficulty what the ol dealership might charge to save me the hassle.

Default They won't recall something unless it's a saftey hazard...this is just improving a design...

...and I had to get them at the dealer...$15-$20/each (for two) IIRC. I looked online to no avail. My '93 use to have horrible lifter noise on startup because of the 2 valves.

Default I did it myself...I'd imagine at the dealer it'd cost quite a bit...the IM has to be pulled...

...have to R&R the valley pan/gasket as well...

Default Only other thing worth mentioning is that the valley pan cover likes to warp...

...you can either sand it down to make it true, or replace it. Of course this is only if the valley pan area is weeping/leaking.
