Hi
Am from Australia and have just bought a 1991 Audi 90, haven't picked it up yet. Was just wondering if there are any known problems with these cars (what to watch out for? We have always owned peugeot 405s and VW golfs, but noticed the Audis and thought we'd give them a go. How are they for fuel usage and performance? Thanks any help greatly apreciated.

Anyway,
As Raliegirl said 20V.org is a great source of info. I'm guessing that your car is a 2.3E (10V), not a 20V quattro. Even so, you'll still find 20V.org invaluable.
I must admit, I'm on the lazier side when it comes to maintenance (it seems that as I get older I get even less interested in working on cars) and so I "outsource" nearly everything to my local mechanic.
If you're like me (and even if you aren't) you really need to find a local mechanic who knows his way around early 90's Audi's.
If you're in Melbourne I can point you at 2 good ones....

It is only a Sport model not a quattro - bugger!!!, Car is dark grey in pretty good condition, picked it up for $5000, 200000kms, leather interior all of the normal gadgets. We are in Queensland but will hopefully be driving to Melbourne for a holiday in winter. I have never seen snow before so should be good.
We generally do all of our own servicing and fixing etc.. If anything goes too bad will have to find a good mechanic... so if any are known brisbane way...
Had a look around the website listed above, it is very good.
We generally use redline oil, expensive but brilliant stuff. We've even got it in the 4by.

I go skiing a couple of times each year. Back in 2001 I'd just come back from Mt. Hotham in my '73 VJ Charger SixPack (E48). As you can imagine with 300hp and a savage LSD it wasn't a fun trip and the car was really past it's use by date, so I bought a '89 90q20V. I've had a few niggles with it, but it's basically it's been sound and it makes driving on snow a pleasure, not a chore.
Unfortunatley I don't know any Audi tech's in Queensland, but there's bound to be a few. good luck....
