Default Just got a 90 90 20V - pics inside

Just picked this up yesterday. Needs a few this & that's - mainly thermostat as it runs cold all the time and a CV shaft boot as it's cracked and starting to oooze grease. P.O. said he just did a timing belt & water pump. Drove it almost 400 miles today on my regular routine and it seemed to drive well, no strange noises vibrations etc.

It does seem to burn some oil, since it's probably had a bad T-stat and been running cold for some time (and rich), I suspect it's pretty carbonized up. Might need a top engine cleaner run through it to free stuck rings. Anything I should check? On the list was all the fluid levels in the various transfer cases & replace the spark plugs. I did not get a manual with the car, and was wondering what the correct fluids to use were as well as what the best plugs to run were.

Pictures here-

Got it for $1400. Is Audi branded fluid a dealer only item or is there a website that sells it at a some discount? Not sure what the deal is with the headlight washers being missing. It certainly does have some cosmetic issues which I will slowly correct. Easy as cake ones will be the turn-signal that's cracked and the tail light that's cracked as I go to junk yards on a nearly daily basis...

Can anyone identify those wheels?

The wheels are off of a (+/-) '94 Saab 900 SE, likely the 2.0 turbocharged version.

Interesting, though, as I could have SWORN that wheel was a 4-bolt... isn't the 90Q a 5-bolt hub?

Well I have been driving this for a while now, and I am really enjoying it. It has has a few of the 200K+ mile Volkswagen issues, but as I fix them it really does feel better and better.

So far, I had to figure out what was up with an intermittent power problem, and it turned out be be a failing Hitachi injector. Luckily, I was able to get a set of 5 from another 90 90 at my local junk yard for $15 and troubleshoot. After figuring I only actually had 2 good ones in that set, and finding the bad one by guess & check, it ran perfect again!

Also, replacing the bad outer CV joint boot turned into quite the project that should not have been so hard, but I got it done, and it now has a new inner boot as well. 12 point star bolts?? Okay...

Next project looks like is going to be the oil pressure switch, as it appears to be leaking a bit and I know this is a common issue.

As it sits, jump in, turn the key and it goes. Pretty well actually! I think when winter time rolls around this car will really show what fun it can be. Unlike turbo cars which I am used to where you can just step on the gas at any rev range, it's a different driving experience. It does make you work for the power, but if you are in the right place in the rev range at the right time, it can get going pretty quickly! Anyone who's good at driving slow cars fast would think it's a speed demon.
