Have some hood pin issues too - with my normal B3 hood. Let me know what you come up with. My driver's side doesn't stay down all the way (after someone smacked the front bumper and headlight), but can't find any damage or bent parts.
Tried adjusting the pin, but it still stays up some, even though it is locked.

You shouldnt have to cut the springs.
Its a matter of adjusting them to fit.
The hood pins need to first be centered so they go into the hole without issue.
Then you turn the large nut on the pin, to adjust it more outward or inward. Hold the pin, its got a two flat faces cut on it, something like an 8mm open end wrench to hold the pin, then turn the large nut.
Adjusting it inward(shorter) will pull the hood more down.
Adjusting it outward(longer) will raise the hood.
