We (as in my group of rally friends) have bent and abused a far higher percentage of Koni's then we ever have Bilstiens.
I mean, we're abusing the snot out of them...true. But I figure if they last in a rally car, i'd rather have them in my street car.
ESPECIALLY since my street koni's didn't last a year in the 4kq.

I have labored over this for awhile myself looking up both koni and bilsteins and found everything correct so far. one thing is, I have found koni's tend to be about $50 more then bilsteins at sites I have found them. tirerack has them but they are $$.
being you can adjust koni's up to the level of bilsteins but softer for inner city driving isnt that the best of both worlds?
one thing I am not sure of but I was sure koni's are built in germany though I have seen somewhere it was italy, whats correct?
I also can see where you could adjust the fronts since you can access the strut top from under the hood but rear adjusts, how is that possible?

Which, to me, totally eliminates the advantage of adjusting them. Not to mention it's rebound that is adjusted, not compression. To properly tune a suspension, or change settings between sprited and regular driving, you need to be able to adjust BOTH compression and rebound.
I'd rather have a set of Bilstiens, custom valved if necessary.

that KYB shocks suck and to stay away from them and tokico are probably not that great either.
anybody have expereince with sachs struts? I dont think they are available for anything older then the A4 though.

They were scheduled to ship in the system, but due to a back-log (funny...14 skid orders take priority over your two tips...strange eh?) they'll be shipping out tomorrow.

they use the twin tube like koni but still use gas vs hydraulic. if they are a bit softer then HDs with your potholes as mentioned, that might be a good alternative to the koni style, plus they are around $60

http://www.bilstein.com/products/econotc.html</a
