Default Those pressures seem high for a stock size DOT legal race tire.

You don't need them that high really, not with that tire.

You go below about 36 PSI with the Hoosier on an autocross course and you get a lot of tire squirm. On my Miata with 6" wheels and 225/45-15 tires it wasn't uncommon to run as high as 45 psi. With the same size tire on my Audi's 7" rims I run a bit lower, about 38 - 40 psi. The Hoosier has no steel belts so it doesn't have the natural stiffness of a true street tire, thus you need higher pressures.

With Kuhmo Victoracers I'd run more like 35 psi because they like lower pressures. However since both Hoosier (A3S04) and Kuhmo (V710) have come out with new tires this year it's hard to say what pressures would be ideal, it's going to take some experimenting to figure out what works best.
