Default loud ticking

looking around in the bentley I cam across these anti drain back gaskets in the cylinder heads that keep oil around the caps so they do not tick. if these are shot it lets the oil drain out and thus, loud valves till the oil takes it time getting up there. I think I have that problem because it does go away after about a minute but always comes back.
whats the challenge to have these replaced?

Default Good to change when you replace the valley pan gasket...

...you need to pull the IM, after that it's just the valley pan cover, and the valves are right under it.

Default not sure I follow

You need to take the entire intake manifold off to get to these? I thought they were just under the valve covers by the lifters

Default No, the check valves are under the VALLEY pan, under the intake...

...so you need a valley pan gasket, two check valves. If you want to do the cam/valve covers do them too, but they don't need to be pulled to do the check valves!

only two check valves? won't you need intake gaskets also?
so lets see, remove TB, gut out intake manifold then the valley pan.....
sounds like one hell of alot of work

Default good read, found the tsb in my bentley

so they changed the cylinder head gasket, was this a recall or anything done under warranty? I have no idea if the work was done on mine being a 94
i also went to 12v and read the write up, its not exactly an easy thing to get to the oil check valves and valley pan gasket.
I avoid the fuel system as much as possible and since you need to disconnect the fuel lines that makes it even worse. with so many tips and tricks mentioned doing this job without screwing up something would be a miracle.
