Default Major Oil Leak.....HELP

Well today I went to go start my 1988 Audi 80 and I noticed in the snow as I was moving it a trail of black. I opened up the hood and noticed that the (and forgive me, im an idiot when it comes to cars) there was a massive leak from the oil filter area. So I thought maybe the filter was loose because it had been so cold up here and hasnt been driven in 3 weeks.

So I tightened it and then added more oil. Started it and its still shooting out. So I looked closer and noticed that its coming from what looks like the bracket or the gasket that is connected to the engine. I called and am waiting on the parts but is this umcommen or am does it sound like I am guessing its the wrong thing?

Everyones help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a 1988 Audi 80 with abuot 138k.

Your help is appreciated,
Chris

Default Re: Did you just change your oil?? It could have 2 gaskets on it.. which would cause this.

No. I actually havent been driving it that much. Also if I was changing the oil I wouldnt of taken the bracket off. Thanks for your help...Chris
