Mance, or anybody doing a lot of suspensions changes

I have bump steer gauge, camber gauge and toe gauges. Some bought and some home made...
When my sons were in IKC kart racing I taught myself how to do all this on their racing karts and its the same for cars.

I'll agree with that whole post ;-)
That was kinda my point, but with a lack of text...Things do/will change, and it generally is not a bad idea to get things at least checked on a rack.
Think of saying something like that as a way to cover your butt, I know some people have had things they said on a few other forums come up in court cases(!!), but wording and such kept them in the clear. Stoopid lawyers (the ambulance chaser types, not ones like my brother in law or sister).

how much of this applies to a C4?
I have never removed the front strut off a C4, but reading the procedure in the Bentley it seems to be quite involved. There they are recomending that the sub frame be dropped to get the struts off. Is this the only way to get those struts out?
Removing the struts the way Bentley describes has the benefit that if any bushings/rubber needs to be replaced it would be a good time to do it. If there were a way, however, to keep from having to go that far I would be inclined to go that route. Do you think it would be possible, and safe, to compress the spring-with clamshell compressor-remove the top nut off the shock, drop the whole strut assembly down and remove the spring? If not like that, compress the spring, remove shock by way of removing strut bearing, and then pull the spring?
I realize this is the B3/4 forum and I do appreciate your response.

I've made a few myself, but...
none that work the way I'd like.
I made a homebrew trammel gauge, but it's too hard for 1 person to use alone.
What did you come up with?
