My friend has had some as well as other friends of mine. I love the 1g Talons, pretty neat cars. The 2g's look kinda neat but can be overdone.
Im partial to VW's, so I dunno

...and it was quite the POS. He gave it up in 1998 after blowing the motor, again, turbo and differential issues. Mind you, it had 42K when dumped.
If there weren't such quality issues with them, they would be pretty cool cars being turbos with AWD.
As a multiple former VR6 owner, I would take the GTI side. Yeah, it's not AWD, but a fun car to drive. Going turbo on that car is easy too. It would have a heck of a lot of torque steer, but the type of crazy fun that is good.

i've got a friend who's owned an AWD talon for about 10 years now. He's put about 20 grand into mods and upgrades and even so, it always has a never ending repair bill. It's an incredible car when it's actually working, but he said that he would never in his right mind buy another one. My friend with a MKIII VR6 on the other hand couldn't be happier with his car. It just seems to be a significantly more reliable and sturdy car, not to mention fast. I was skeptical about the VR6 at first, but one ride in it changed my mind very quickly. Just my 2 cents, good luck

with eibachs & bilsteins, 28mm rear sway bar, front & back stress bars, 17's and good rubber, she was pretty stable to 140 or so.
definitely a much better built car than the mitsu.
mitsu could be made much faster cheaper though. the rice brigade like to go fast straight.

first one was a '95- awesome car no problems with it and I know now that I should have never gotten rid of it. the second was a '97 drivers edition. The suspension was stiffer, but not in a good way, it was actually annoying to drive while not really providing any advantage. Also, the quality had taken a nose dive compared to the '95. After just 3 months that thing rattled like mad - seems like every interior panel was coming loose.
