Default miktip, why part?

just curious why all the labor to part out all your 90 specific parts when you can sell the car with it all included for a better price? I would think somebody in the know would pay a premium for the extras and the condition of your car.
its a overhauled tuner 90 and those can't be too common these days.
Will you really make more by selling the parts and returning it to bone stock?

Default These cars are all worth more in pieces than assembled....

it's just a matter of how sentimental you are about not destroying one of the limited number reamining.

Completely stripping a good, running car and selling all the parts is morally wrong I think, but returning it to stock and selling the go-fast parts separate is just good business sense.

Default thats what I figured

I've seen too many nice 90s with mint bodies being parted out recently and I can't see what the point is when used parts don't fetch alot.
in miktips case unless he knew somebody that was willing to buy the car complete with all the trim sure he might with his own labor get back alot of cash.

Default Unfortunately true.....but I've lucked out. Twice.

The last two B5 A4's I've owned, I sold "as is" and got a nice return for my work.

This '97 A4, originally a 1.8TQM, went for $15k, 4 months ago, with over 100k on the odometer. It now has a 6 speed rebuilt, 2.7T rebuilt top end with K04's and all the typical goodies. I for sure lost money on this one, as I can account for about $50k worth of R&D that went into it over the years.....

This one, I bought for $3300 with a blown engine. Rebuilt the top end, K04 kit, hi flow cat, H&R c/o's, the wheels, and the stoptech $5700 4 wheel brake kit. Owned it for 8-9 months, sold it for $20k to a guy who saw one picture, in Washington state. He flew across the country to buy it, I still talk to him, and he's still loving it, over 2 years after he bought it. I loved the deal too, since I profited a healthy sum after all was said & done. ;-) But that's part of the business, right?

Default ;O)

Parting out my 1986 Coupe, helped pay for the 1993 90.

The 1993 90, is helping pay for the 2004 A4 ;O)
