Default Momo hub controversy

Ok, I got my 8013 today and installed it. Took some pics of the two and thought I'd share so maybe we can clear things up. However, despite the correct hub for my car 8013 88 + Quattro, the horn does not work, and the turn signal cancel still doesn't function. Here's the pics...

Now as you can see there is no longer a gap between the column and the hub and the horn contact spring on the column is now making contact with the ring on the new hub. Also, you can see how short the cancel is on the 8013 compared to the 2507. My vehicle is a 1990 Audi 80 Quattro air bag equipped. What now?

Default I modified my 2057 to work with the horn contact protrusion...

there's a horn contact ring part you have to get from MOMO. Sorry i don't know the part #.

Basically, you wanna call MOMO and ask for the horn contact ring that fits the 2057.

Default There are four options (the same four that we've been discussing the whole time)

1. The external horn cable that Miktip used
2. The different column covers that Alex is talking about
3. The 7004 with a modified turn signal canceller (the horn pad is big enough on the 7004). This is what I have and both the horn and turn signal work properly
4. The modified steering column covers that V-A-G-Nuß did

I hate to say this, but these are the same answers that we gave you when you originally asked the question a long time ago.

https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/105125.phtml</a

Default "I hate to say this..."

These are the answers that "we" gave...these are the answers that you gave. According to several others on this board the 2507 works. According to more the 8013 works. According to Momo the 8013 works and according to 2Bennett the 2507 works. So there is no "I told you so" in this game because it appears to me that no one really knows the correct answer, period.

Not sure what you're talking about. There are several of us that have already gone through this and have tried to offer you advice along the way. I have the 7004 working perfectly, so apparantly I do know the correct answer. Others have different solutions that work as well.

NOBODY on this forum has said that any hub would work on an airbag equipped wheel without modification. MOMO and 2bennett are incorrect, and this was also something that was discussed before (not 2Bennett specifically, but MOMO and others).

You chose to ignore the advice that many gave you and try on your own. There is nothing wrong with that and if you would have found a solution that worked with no modification, that would have been even better.

However, you now ask what you should do and I gave you the 4 options that are KNOWN to work.

So once again, there are several "correct answers" and all work. You can choose to continue to ignore them or you can choose one of them and have a wheel that fits and works.

I'm not even sure what you mean by this. Lots of people gave you suggestions...V-A-G-Nuß offered suggestions several times and Alex did as well. Miktip, squrlathon, and ¥ÜM¥JÅGÈR also replied to your original post with suggestions. They didn't give the same advice I gave, but their advice was just as good. I even pointed out their suggestions in this post and in previous posts.

NOBODY said that the 8013 or 2507 would work on an airbag equipped car without modification. In fact, people specifically said these hubs wouldn't work. You chose to ignore these posts.

Well the wheel fits and works just fine. It has just come with minor annoyances that, like most situations, will have work arounds. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the suggestions but I beg to differ that there have been posts that say one or both of those hubs will work with out modifications. These weren't said in my posts only but on others that have asked the same question as well. My next step will be looking into the Euro covers to see if that resolves this. I'm not ignoring your advice but perhaps just choosing to follow others. Now I pay for my ignorance and will check out the next avenue. Thanks again Scott.
