momo steering wheel adapter for audi 90 with airbag

I had the momo champion steering wheel in my '93 90 (with no airbag) using the momo adapter and of course it fit perfectly.
after my '93 was written off, I got my current '94 which has airbags. the momo adapter no longer fits perfectly, although it can still be made to work -- there is a gap between the adapter and the steering column and there is no way to connect the horn, among other small problems which can be overcome with little difficulty so that the setup is solid, safe and usable.
I did try to get another adapter but apparently momo doesn't make a different one for these cars...has anybody had this same experience? any suggestions?

Mines "wired" with a piece of that special coiled wire which looks like a coiled phone cord! ;o)
That way when I turn the wheel, the wire doesnt get all tangled, snaggled, etc!
Used the wire from my old Escort detector!

i have been desperatly searching for an adapter that works, but i have been unable to find one, i have been told the the hub adapter for an MK3 golf will work but, the base of the hub is too wide i think. what's the serial # for the hub that you are using now?

I'll have to check. My car is up on a hoist right now...
It is the Momo adapter for a '93 90. In fact they claim that this adapter works for all the '90 models, (88-95 ??) but apparently they failed to make design changes accommodating the air bag-equipped assembly.

i contacted the guy who had that modified green 90 on Ebay a while ago. He had a the same wheel you and i have as well, the Champion. when i asked him what adapter he used, he said he thought it was from an MK3 golf, but wasnt sure, i have one of those hubs sitting on my desk right now, and the base looks way to wide to fit the steering column behind the wheel.... oh well the hunt continues.

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/6607/momo2.jpg"></center><p>You can see the coiled wire below the wheel.
Its wired to the horn button and the connectors on the steering colum.
Doesnt get fouled when you turn the wheel full lock-2-lock! ;o)
