I have a '92 Audi 80 Quattro which i recently bought to replace my totalled '89 Audi. I understand it has a funky fuel injection system? Anyway, My problem arises when the car is first started... the cold value kicks in fine and the idle is about 1200-1400 RPM. In between real cold and warm, there is a mild performance hesitation. Once warmed up, its fine performance wise. The only new issue is the idle stays at 1200 RPMs and sometimes is bouncing between 1100 and 1400 instead of settling down to 900 RPM. I have gotten totally different stores as to what to fix and would like some feedback as to what to replace first and troubleshoooting tips. I have been told to replace the following..

1) oxygen sensor
2) fuel injection engine temp sensors
3) ECM unit

any ideas?

Disconnect the O2 sensor, tells us how it responds.

no change in idle or engine performance. I am going to order fuel injection thermo stat as listed on page 25-10 of bently manual.

i meant to post under your comments. I am replacing the thermo reply switch listed on bently page 25-10.
