Default Mount Saver Review

I'm sure Mance will correct me soon to mention exactly which Mounts and Savers I've got, but I've been doing some testing to see if I can't break the set I've got. The mounts and mount savers Mance sent me were, I believe, his Boge mounts with Mount Savers. Perhaps noteworthy is that they come with new slotted nuts and an o-ring seal for installation.

Test one involved me putting a Mance mount in the driver's side and a regular replacement mount in the passenger side. No idea what brand the alternate mount was. It wasn't Boge, I suspect Meyle, but don't know for sure. Test one lasted for about 2,000km's on the odo. In that 2,000km was about 100km's of rough rally road roads. I stopped test one due to some clunking coming from the passenger side (none Mance side). Only the OE mount was pulled, and a Mance mount with mount saver was installed in its place. Since then I've done an additional 2,300km with about 200-250km's of stage testing on closed roads. A new suspension clunk pulled the car off the road again, but this time it turned out to be a Bilstein issue, not a mount issue.

I had Mance look at some photos of the mount and mount saver, and all is as it should be. After 4,600km and absolutely beating the pulp out of the car, I have no complaints what-so-ever. Highly recommended, never had an OE mount take as much abuse, ever.

I had the video camera in the car on our last day of testing to give you an idea of just how hard we've been pushing the car, but the camera failed. In the past two months I've finished destroying a 6061-T6 Skid plate, hit the floor with two rocks hard enough to bend it 3" and 4" upwards, bent two of the rims my gravel tires are mounted to and I've bent an OE rear control arm. I am NOT being gentle on this thing!

Photos of the mount saver, Mance Mount (green) and the OE mount that was banging after 100km.

That little o-ring has kept the Mance mount bearing clean without contamination.

Default The actual mount used in this post was nothing special. Simply a stock OEM Bosch...

strut mount using a pro-rally thickness MS1 insert and an o-ring sealing provision to keep water/debris out of the bearings and made specifically for rally vehicles. The only people that got them were Dave, the Oneill Rally School and 2 local Audis running rally-cross. All are still in use today with the mounts they were installed in. These were done two years ago and only for a short time before development led to Pro-Mounts with over-sized teflon-lined spherical bearings eliminating any need for sealing o-rings and even longer mount & insert life due to spherical bearing preventing axial/side-load mount deflections which tear the inner/outer strut mount halves away from each other and eventually apart.

Default I do not own any of your products either, however your knowledge of.....

our cars, and abilities from what I can tell is incredible! I am a bit upset to learn that my chances for owning any of your intake components are somewhat diminished, however the suspension upgrades intrigue me. I know little to nothing about our [or any] suspensions, although from your posts alone I am increasing my knowledge of them. I have some questions regarding some of your components in relation to my b4...do you have an email address by which I could ask these somewhat particular questions without using the forums?

Default my email address, just like yours is in EVERY post I/you make or have ever made...

tho if you want others to learn like you have, why take it private? Defeats the purpose of a public forum and might answer someone else's question(s) at the same time. Tho I'd recommend starting a new thread instead of hijacking this one. Besides me there's a lot of qualified help at this forum and much to benefit from public postings rather than private questions. Someone else may have the same/similar questions or could benefit from yours.

Default Definately NOT one of mine. A plagiarized, more expensive/less machined copy...

Default As I have said I do not own any of mances products, but even I can tell by looking at that...

that it is not one of his.
Regardless, I choose not to run a sleeve on my setup as I am not recirculating my pcv. It is the other mods/products of his I desire.

With that said, I will ask this: would a recovery sleeve, for example, one of mances hv's, without the holes even tapped [for pcv connections], be advantageous for a setup like mine (not recicirculating pcv). Will it increase the cfm/air flow of my intake utilizing its "high-velocity" design...and if so, is an untapped one worth it and available?
