My coolant level has gone down 2" in the past 700 miles. What could cause this? I have put
a new water pump and new head gaskets in about 5000 miles ago. Hoses look good. I want to drive it 1000 on a trip next week. I'm not sure if I should.
What might be causing this and is it OK to drive it on a trip this way? TIA.

Re: Check water fitting at the back of the head.
How would I do this? Where is it located? Is it a gasket that can be seen by looking at the back of the engine without removing anything?
