So I just finished my first corner on my coilover conversion. I'm very pleased with the components provided for this project by VAP. Everything went quite smoothly, and all of the pieces were precision fit. It took me about 3 hours start to finish, but I was taking my time. The only thing that I didn't do other than finish tightening everything down, is paint the assembly...I did prime the metal under the threaded sleeve however. Cutting the swagged end off the strut tube proved to be easy with a band saw. The only real pain was welding the bottom metal ring on where it is really close to the steering arm.
Does anyone have the tool for tightening the bilstein strut retaining ring down? Or the tool to tighten the top nut? If you do, I would be happy to pay shipping if you would let me borrow it/them.
I would like to thank Doug for his write-up on doing his coilover conversion...it was helpful.
I'll post some pics when I get the other 3 corners done.
