Err!! Wrong, sort of ;-)
I have pictures of the 944 on the same assembly and paint lines as Audi 100/200/5000's.
The 914 was a VW vehicle almost totally. The 924/44 was a joint project with VAG (Audi) and Porsche. That is how the Porsche+Audi thing came about.

they're usually the ones that snuff out any fun on my end...
