I was driving home from school for summer break, and from 50 - 70 mph my car shakes. I positioned the drivers side mirror so I could look at the rear wheel, and I noticed the wheel wobbles alot. It also does this at any speed when I go over a bump. Both rear wheels do this. I have never noticed it before, I think it is new. I just had the wheels balanced 2000 miles ago at the dealer. My car is FWD, not quattro. I took the rear wheels off and put them back on, I made sure the lugs were tightened correctly. Any ideas why my car would be doing this? Thanks for any input.

retorque lugs after 100 miles or so after you pull them off the car.
do you hear any bearing noise from the back?
By the way, I shipped your bumper out today in the mail. You will get it on Friday or Sat at the latest. Someone will have to sign for it.
I'll email you the balance for what you owe me.
Thanks.

I cant tell if they wobble while driving at 50 - 70....but they def wobble when going over a bump. I'm keeping these on for a while because the Pirelli P7000 SS on the modas have no tread at all left. Cool, thanks for shipping it so promptly, I can't wait to get it painted and put on.

I have the same problem with my 80quattro,
Last night I found it was the bushes in the wishbones, they just fell apart when I took the bolts out.
you can tell if its the same problem by jacking the wheel up off the ground and putting a tyre lever in between the wishbone and where it meets the subframe and lightly levering the two apart, if there is any movement you've found your problem!

Mine squeak when it's cold outside. I found that spraying them with WD40 or any other lubricant silences them, but after a while they start making noise again. It's not that big of a concern now that it's getting warmer, but I cannot go another winter with a squeaky rear end.

No you don't need to compress the spring because the wishbone is seperated from the whole shock assembly at the ball joint. It is easier to remove the wishbone commpleatly from the car!
