Default my speedo is intermittent...
but my odometer is still tracking. the speedo will cut out for no reason and then kick back in a couple of minutes later. i'm assuming the speedo is electronic, while the odo is cable driven? anyway, is there a speed sensor that's going? if so where is it and is it easy to replace?

Changed the speedo!

It unscrews from the back of the instrument cluster.

This is a common problem. See TSB 90-89-T01. Resolder a connection on the speedo PC board.
