Default need help from radio gurus.

I found a OEM CD radio out of Europe. Model # 441-035-196 and I want to install it in my Coupe.

But the wiring on the top of the radio shows it to be different than the coupe. I am not very good at electrical stuff, better at mechanical.

I plugged in the CD radio. Only the rear speakers work and the cd would just eject the cd without starting.

So I need help.

These are the diagrams on top of the radios.

How do I need to rewire the plugs to get the CD to work. I know the top "red plug is the rear speaker connector. The "brown is the Front Speaker connector, and the Black is the Power.

I do not have any wires in the spot marked in red.

Help

Default Are you certain they're needed? Have you tried plugging it in? Might just be data-out for the...

...autocheck display (for cars that accept radio/cd info).

Default Re:"spot marked in red." Eh, you wouldn't . Coupes at the time didn't have....

CD players. That is the designated plug in for it. You will have to rig something up for it. As for the wiring you say you have....my Coupe must have a different wiring than yous because mine is different that yours.
My CQ has RED=(+)/ BROWN=(-)/ Black is SPEAKER output. I suggest you get a Bentley and check the schematics
against what you have.

Default I am talking about the connectors not the wires

Here are pictures of the Bentley and the connectors. The red one has two extra wires in it.

Default Here's a link to a list of OEM Audi radios...

http://www.ibiblio.org/tkan/audi/radios/

I'd like to get the Gamma CD (euro) for my coupe. Saw one go on e-bay a month or so ago.

Interestingly, I don't see the p/n you listed on this page (# 441-035-196 )

Default That's how all stock Audi radios look in the back...from the '88 to '96s I've owned...

...they all utilize the same kinds of plugs/wiring...only the '88 & '93 used the dual diversity antenna system though.

Default the circle with the horizontal line must be a ground based on the others shown

I'm no guru but:
* the CD model has active fronts and rears (they have component amplifiers), so you need component speakers for the front.
From the looks of it you have 4 'signal' wires labeled LR, RR, LF and RF with a ground and a mute lead. You'll need to run signal wires from the LF and RF connectors to the amps for your front components (which you'll have to get).

At the front connector it looks like in order L -> R: Ground, Dimmer control, <blank>, ground (for component amplifier +,-), Main Power, Antenna power, power wire (for component amplifier +,-), Not sure about the 3 triangles... test it with a volt meter while everything is plugged in and find out if it has power or not.

Lastly, be sure to test the CD player with an original CD not a copy. Some players (especially older ones) are not compatible with CD-R's and or RW's

Default Thanks, that helps a lot.

Just like you said, the Cassette has amps for the rear and that is the L & R in the red connector. The fronts have two wires running to the fronts, so no amps. Sounds right.

Whereas the CD is similiar to the Bose, which has amps on the fronts and rears.

I tried three original CD. No go. But it does have a button for CD-R.

Thanks for the help.
