new 90 quatrro coupe owner
just brought a 1989 90 quattro coupe when driving get a noise from the rear of the car then she starts kangarooing when the noise stops she picks up again is this the fuel pump if so where is this located as not where the haynes manual says please help thanks

Is the noise a loud buzz??

Also, get a Bentley manual if you will be doing your own work.

Yeah, that is probably the fuel pump, it can buzz and still work...
...but if it bucks like you say and the pump is unusually loud then it is probably the pump but I can't be 100% sure. You may want to try the filter first???

If you lift up the carpet in the rear hatch...
there is a access cover take that off and the tank access is below that, and it is below that. the description is in that link in the first post I replied to on 20v.org
I just looked up the price on those pumps, yikes!!
I do have a Coupe that I might be parting out, if you need/want a used one.

thanks so much 4 ur help new to this forum stuff be on the case tommorow please keep in touch just got brought a doner vehicle 4 next to nothing gearbox no good electric buggered but mint condition lots of goodies to be had
